Noncreedalism

The Church of the Brethren does not follow a single creed. Instead, we hold to a commitment to follow Christ as faithful disciples. We base our beliefs on the New Testament, with an emphasis on the life and teachings of Jesus.

The Brethren believe, as most Christians do, that God is our Creator. We believe in salvation through grace given to us by Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection, and we look to scripture and the Holy Spirit to guide our lives. Our study of and obedience to the New Testament has led us to center our lives around certain principles that we believe are essential for true discipleship, including peace, simple living, servanthood, and social justice.
