Keep the Labels Coming!

Posted by andrew on

Green Tree has been working with Campbell’s Labels for Education Program by collecting labels. This program benefits numerous nonprofit organizations that have an educational focus. We qualify for the program because of our Sunday School program.
A form is posted on the bulletin board with a list of eligible products from which we will gather the labels. Some products will have the Labels for Education logo on it, such as General Mills Cereal, Betty Crocker Potatoes, Gold Medal Flour, and others. Here is a copy of the logo that you need to be looking for:
There are numerous other products that are eligible for the program but do not carry the Labels for Education Logo. A listing of such products is posted on the bulletin board in the lobby.
A Campbell’s Label for Education drum is located in the church lobby for you to place your collected items. Please contact Helen Joan Turner at 610-331-6662 with any questions.
Thank you for your participation!

Box Tops Collection

The Witness Commission is collecting “Box Tops For Education”. The Box Tops that are collected will be given to Blue Mountain Elementary School in Hamburg, PA. Blue Mountain is a small, private, Christian school supported by Lillian Detwiler’s church. It was destroyed in a storm on July 9, 2015. The Box Tops that are collected will help the school replace books and equipment. A box has been placed in the lobby, under the bulletin board to collect the Box Tops.

Collection for PACS June 14 to July 19

Posted by andrew on

The Witness Commission invites you to contribute to Green Tree’s annual collection for Phoenixville Area Community Services. The collection will take place from June 14 to July 19.  Donation boxes will be placed under the ledge in the lobby.

Items to be donated include everything that you might buy for your family during your weekly shopping trip – canned goods, breakfast foods, baking supplies, paper products and personal hygiene products are a few examples.  We will be collecting anything that can be stored in a pantry.  PACS also accepts monetary donations and grocery store gift cards, which are used to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables and meat.  And if you happen to have a large number of reusable grocery bags that you do not need, PACS would love to have them.

We were reminded recently that with the school year over soon, many children who rely on the school lunch program for breakfast and lunch will not have that resource.  PACS is one of the local organizations in our community that provides for those in need.

Church Encouragement Ministry

Posted by andrew on September 28, 2014

After several months of planning, the Church Encouragers are ready to begin. Each currently active member and families will be assigned an individual Encourager. This Encourager will contact you to introduce themselves and work gradually on getting to know more about you.  The Deacons are thankful to this dedicated group of people who desire to share the love of Jesus simply, peacefully, and together.

Green Tree Collects for PACS

Posted by andrew on July 18, 2014

Green Tree’s annual collection for Phoenixville Area Community Services has begun and will continue through July 20th.

PACS provides an emergency food supply for those in need in the Phoenixville area.  They also provide emergency housing, utilities and health services.  PACS assists 193 household each month.  Most of the people who go to PACS for assistance are in extreme need.   84% of the food that is distributed is donated by the community.  During the summer months, the need does not decrease, but donations often do.

We will be collecting everything that you might buy for your family on your weekly shopping trip – canned goods, breakfast foods, boxed goods, baking supplies and paper products are few examples.  PACS also accepts monetary donations and grocery store gift cards, which are used to purchase fresh fruit and vegetables and meat.

Donation boxes have been placed under the ledge in the foyer and PACS’s “Hot List” of needed items is posted on the bulletin board.

Witness Commission Collecting for Birthright and Genesis Pregnancy Centers

Posted by andrew on May 16, 2014

In honor of all mothers, the Witness Commission will be collecting items for mothers and babies in need during the month of May. We will be having a baby shower for Birthright and Genesis Pregnancy Centers.
The collection dates have been changed from December to May because of requests from Birthright and Genesis. Many churches and civic groups collect donations during the holidays and there is an abundance of supplies at that time, but those supplies are running short by the time summer comes.
We will be collecting everything that a baby might need: diapers, formula, cereal, baby food, clothing, blankets and toys. Men’s T-shirts in extra large (XL) and 2 extra large (XXL) sizes are also needed.
If you do not have time to shop, a monetary donation can be made and the youth group will enjoy going baby shopping on your behalf.

Witness Commission Update

Phoenixville Area Community Services

The annual collection of food and pantry items for Phoenixville Area Community Services was a great success. The congregation contributed two hundred and twenty-two items for the PACS pantry, including canned goods, pasta, baking supplies, personal care items, house cleaning items and paper goods. The donations were accepted by PACS with gratitude. As always, the generosity of the people of Green Tree is amazing.

Baby Giving Tree

The baby giving tree collection for Birth Right and Genesis Pregnancy Center was concluded just before Christmas Eve. One Hundred and thirty-three items were collected, those items included: many hand- made items, t-shirts for expectant mothers, infant and toddler sized clothes and coats, blankets, small toys, feeding supplies, formula and every day baby care items, such as: baby wash, baby shampoo diapers and baby wipes. The members of Green Tree have been generous as they always are.
