On Sunday, October 2 at 7 p.m., the Baptist Church of Phoenixville and its Adoption for Life Ministry will be holding a special worship event that will include a showing of the World Vision film, Journey to Jamaa, which tells the real life story of two orphaned African children and their inspiring journey to find a family. Annual Chicken BBQ Dinner: Saturday, August 20, 2011

Posted by andrew on August 3, 2011

The 4th of July is over, but you still have our annual Chicken Barbecue dinner on Saturday, August 20th from 3 to 7 p.m. Our family style dinner will include a half chicken, homemade potato salad, baked beans, home grown tomatoes, rolls, and dessert. Of course, take out dinners will also be available. Tickets will be on sale for $10.00 for adults and $4.50 for children under 10 years of age. You can get your tickets by calling the church office at 610-666-6700.

As usual, we will need lots of help to make our dinner successful. We will need servers, bakers, kitchen help, potato salad makers, etc. A signup sheet is posted in the church foyer. Remember, mark your calendars for August 20th for an opportunity to work and fellowship with our church family and community and also eat lots of great food!

If You Bake It, We Can Sell It!

Pies, cakes, cookies, brownies. Lots of people crave them. That’s why the bake table at the barbecue is always so successful. Little cakes and pies for single and older folks will also sell well. Some people come to the chicken barbecue early so they can pick out the “best of the lot.”

We’re not going to post a signup sheet for the bake table, we’re just going to depend on you to bring in your wonderful baked goods.

2011 Vacation Bible School

Posted by andrew on

An outdoor adventure camp like no other!  Son Rock Kids Camp is coming to Green Tree August 8th through the 12th at 6pm.  Campers will learn how their lives can be transformed by God’s great love for them.  Through learning about the apostle Peter, campers will discover their true identities are not formed by where they go, what they can do, or what others think, but rather they will discover who they are in Jesus Christ.  Because of His love for us, He is the rock upon which we can build our lives!

Over the course of the week at Son Rock Kids Camp, campers will learn of the love of God through the story of Peter.  The week’s theme comes from 1 John 3:1 “How great is the love the father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!”  Each day the campers will explore a different aspect of God and His love.  Campers will learn what it means to be accepted by Jesus, protected by Jesus, saved by Jesus, forgiven by Jesus, and to live for Jesus.

As we gear up and prepare for camp, we ask for your heartfelt prayer and consideration.  Son Rock Kids Camp is looking for volunteers to help camp run smoothly.  We will need camp counselors to lead our kids through the week, cooks and kitchen hands for snack, arts and crafts director, music coordinator, games instructor, camper registration, and many more.  Please consider volunteering to help on our camp staff and keep an eye out for the volunteer board to be posted in May.

Mark your calendars for Son Rock Kids Camp, VBS 2011.  We hope to see you there!

Vacation Bible School – 2010

There was a great turnout for the 2010 Green Tree VBS.  This year they took a trip to the Jungle!  The sanctuary was transformed into a base camp, a forest and even a river!

Fun was had by all.  The kids got to see a beautifully done skit every day before their adventures of singing, bible study, activities and snack.  The older groups even took some special trips.  There’s a few pictures below.

A special thanks to Bobbi for organizing it all, and thanks to all the teachers, decorators, and helpers that made it all possible.

2009 Benefit Concert

With the announcement of a 2011 benefit concert, we found some pictures from the 2009 concert to stir up some interest.  Everybody had a great time with this musical evening.  We were graced with a comedy routine from Pastor Rod, some silly singing clowns, and even a song sung in Italian.
