Excitement has been building as preparations continue for the start of our first official school year on Tuesday. September 3rd and Wednesday, September 4th. Our 3 year olds (Seedlings) will meet on Tuesday and Thursday mornings and the 4 year olds (Sprouts) will meet on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings. Opportunities for an extended day (“Lunch Bunch”) are available on Wednesdays and Thursdays. We still have spots in both programs, so please continue to spread the word. I will be at a table during the Upper Providence Community Day in Black Rock Park from 1-5 p.m. continuing efforts to inform the community about our new school.
On a practical note, we could use a few “extra” clothes to keep in the classroom. T-shirts, long sleeve shirts, shorts, pants sizes 3T-6X. They are needed in the event of spills/accidents that occur during school hours. The preschool families are asked to insure that their children always have a change of clothes in their backpacks but in anticipation of those moments when clothes are forgotten or more than one “unfortunate” event occurs in a day, I would like to have a “back-up” supply. If you have cleaned out closets lately and have any items this size to donate, it would be greatly appreciated. Clothes can be left on top of the filing cabinet in the classroom if I am not here.
I truly appreciate everyone’s support over the past few months. It is a blessing to be able to teach in such a caring community.

On Sunday, February 19th, Little Acorns had its first Open House. Several families from the community came and visited the new classroom. Many wonderful, positive comments were made about the school’s philosophy and programs’ descriptions, in addition to the physical appearance. A big thank you goes to Andrea Brown, Vicki Yeager and the Sunday School staff in helping to prepare the room for families to visit. And to all of the individuals who helped to distribute our school brochure to the many houses in our community. I appreciate all of the legwork they did in helping to get our school information out to the public.
The school is in need of a gently used wooden dollhouse, along with dolls and furniture, and gently used wooden cars and a car mat. In addition, our play kitchen is in need of play food and serving materials (i.e. dishes, cups…). If interested in making a donation, please contact me via email, firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you were unable to attend February’s Open House, or know of a family who would like to see the school, I am planning on having more Open Houses over the next few months. As always, I am available to meet with families outside of our Open Houses.

January has been a busy time for me. I have been hard at work ordering new furniture for the preschool classroom (several shelves and a large set of wooden blocks) and a varietyof paperwork in preparation for the start of open houses and February enrollment. One of the most time consuming, but exciting, achievement was completing our school’s website. Families can access our website at http://little-acorns-preschool.com/. Our school site allows families to learn information about who we are and what programs are available through Little Acorns. Once our school is in session, the school calendar, weather closing information and forms will be available for families to access. Keep a look out on the church’s website, as well as Little Acorn’s site to learn when the school will be open for tours and open houses.
