During the season of Lent, Pastor Dave will offer a class on Effective Communication with Others on four consecutive Wednesday evenings in the Fellowship Hall. The sessions will run from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. and will occur on March 12, March 19, March 26 and April 2.
The class will address the importance of communication in the church, in our families, in our work settings and so forth. Since effective communication is frequently a challenge, the class will outline certain aspects that make good communication difficult such as conflict, distance, over/underfunctioning, and triangling. The class will also address communication aspects that help us move out of the challenging areas to aspects that are more fruitful. Such areas include: non-reactive communication, open conversation, connectedness, mutuality, and directness. The class will also discuss the importance of boundaries and accountability as effective components of relating well to others.
We communicate with others all the time. Communication is simply a part of life. Sometimes we communicate well and other times we do not. This class will help us understand what is happening when we don’t communicate well and what we need to do to change that. The class will also help us understand what is going on when we do communicate well with others. If you plan to attend the class or have any questions, please contact Pastor Dave.
