  1. There was an article posted in the Greeter this month. For those that missed it, I posted it below.

The Witness Commission will be sponsoring a benefit concert for New Community Project’s Give a Girl a Chance Fund in Southern Sudan. This year the concert will take place on Saturday, May 21 at 7:00 p.m. and will be centered on the music of Leland Plumridge with many other talented guests. Leland is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist from the Philadelphia Area. He is most well known for his work as lead singer and guitarist of the Philadelphia based reggae-rock group The Groovement. To listen to his music, visit: http://www.thegroovementmusic.com or http://lelandplumridge.bandcamp.com. Tickets for the concert are $10 for pre-sale or $12 at the door. Tickets will be available in early April. If you are interested in participating in this event or for more information, please contact the Witness Commission. This should be an exciting night of great music for an amazing cause. Please plan to attend and bring a friend!

Following the benefit concert on May 21, David Radcliff, the director of the New Community Project will be preaching at Green Tree on Sunday, May 22. David travels widely around the U.S. doing presentations in schools, congregations, youth events, community settings, and regional and national gatherings. His areas of emphasis are living responsibly with the earth, living respectfully and justly with our neighbors, and generally confronting the culture of consumption for our own spiritual health and for the good of the planet, its people and coming generations. David is a graduate of Bridgewater College and Bethany Seminary; teaches courses at Elizabethtown College in the areas of globalization, environmental care, and poverty and hunger; leads Learning Tours to the Arctic, Amazon, Nepal, Burma, Sudan, and Central America; received the 2008 West/Whitelow Humanitarian Award from Bridgewater College; and has traded in his car for a bicycle.

  2. Just some additional information: the concert will be benefiting the Give A Girl A Chance fund of New Community Project (www.newcommunityproject.org).
