Thank You!!
Our wedding weekend was wonderful. On Saturday, June 11, Pat and I were married in a private ceremony in the Memorial Rose Garden in front of the church. Her Pastor, John Nelson, from the Christ Community Church in Wilmington officiated at the service. Some of you may remember that it was an overcast day with some spots of rain, but we were able to proceed with the service in between the raindrops.
As I said on Sunday, June 12, just prior to our anointing, Pat and I cannot begin to express in words the gratitude we feel for the way in which the church has supported our relationship and our marriage. People worked hard to get the rose garden ready. The Pastoral Commission did a wonderful job in organizing the meal and of course many people assisted them. Pastor Rod, Kirk, and the media technicians and many others allowed us to have a meaningful worship experience on Sunday that focused on our love for each other and our marriage.
We had a number of family and friends from out of town who commented on how beautiful the church is, how friendly the people are, and how great it is to see a group of strong committed Christians work together. They said what they experienced on Sunday was real. And the love that you have for me and Pat was very evident. Thank you to everyone.
Yes we do have a “real” church here at Green Tree. We are service oriented. We have a genuine interest in connecting who we are with the community that surrounds us. We are interested in Christian education and instruction. We work hard to have an inspirational worship experience every Sunday. And we care and support each other time and again. It is not easy to be the church in a time that many people are calling the post-Christendom era. It takes hard work, a genuine faith, and true hearts. It is truly a blessing to be your pastor and to be part of this congregation. Keep up the good work!!
