Drum Roll Please! We are pleased to announce that a theme has been selected for this year’s Vacation Bible School! This year we will be returning to Gospel Light for our VBS curriculum. The theme of the week will be SonWest RoundUp!
Out in the wide-open spaces, we’ll discover a colorful old town where all the excitement of the Wild West awaits! In SonWest, we’ll celebrate all the fun of being buckaroos – so grab a sarsapilla and join in the jamboree! There’ll be food, games, music, crafts – and amazing true stories that point you and your kids to Jesus!
Here’s a little VBS Trivia for you. Did you know that each year we successfully run a VBS program with just a small handful of volunteers? April Fools! Actually it takes a large number of volunteers to assist with putting together this program for the children of our church and surrounding community. On average it can take up to 30 volunteers for the week of VBS alone! In addition to those volunteers, there are many volunteers that assist behind the scenes who donate their personal items for decorations, supplies for craft projects, and food for snacks. Without all of you we could not run a successful VBS program here at Green Tree.
In February we had our first interactive Greeter Article where you hopefully marked your calendars with the date. If not – please take a moment to do that now. Go ahead…. I’ll wait….
In March we asked you to please take time to prayerfully consider how and where you may feel led to volunteer this year.
Can you believe it’s already April? VBS is just 3 short months away and now is the time to start signing up volunteers for VBS. As you saw it takes a number of people coming together to bring VBS to life. Starting on the first Sunday in April there will be a sign up sheet in the lobby. If you haven’t done so, please prayerfully consider how and where you feel led to help with this wonderful program.
We will be in need of Sheriff’s to teach the class and Deputy’s to assist. We’ll need some people to own and manage the local inn to get the cowboys and cowgirls registered and directed to their rooms when they arrive. We are also seeking owners to run the Snack Parlor and directors for the Rodeo Ring games and Trading Post crafts. In addition we also need a music director and skit director to help prepare the buckaroos for Friday’s Final Hoe Down. We need actors and actresses, decorations, and sound system.
As you can see – our little old wild west town of Green Tree can’t run without a lot of wonderful volunteers like you! If you have any questions please feel free to call or send an email to the town Mayoral Staff: Kim Hallman, Pat Leiter, Desiree Maurer and Kimberly Szabo.
Hope to see you there!
