Youth Update – September 2012

It’s been quite a busy summer for the youth! After a summer of vacations and visits with family and friends, many of the youth ended the summer with a week or two of band camp, preparing for the fall marching band season, which many of our youth participate in! Aside from all of our individual activities, both the Jr. High and the Sr. High spent a week serving in other communities on their work camp trips. Six Sr. High youth had a great time exploring Washington D.C. and serving the community there by cleaning up a local park and a cemetery, and even doing some farm work! Three Jr. High youth took a trip down to Roanoke, Virginia to volunteer their time at the Roanoke Rescue Mission. If you would like to hear more about our work camp trips, please join us on September 16th for Work Camp Sunday, when we will share our experiences with the congregation during both services.
There were no incoming freshmen this year, so there are no new members to our high school group; however, we welcome Abby Simon into the Jr. High group this year! We are very excited to start the new school year, and both groups are planning lots of fun activities for the fall! We can’t wait to get started!
