Youth Update – June 2011

Youth Update

The Sr. High Youth had a very successful Youth Sunday on May 1st. Five youth acted as worship leaders and acted out a skit about the importance of faith through works and of making a commitment to our faith.

This month has been very busy for our youth, both Jr. High and Sr. High. There have been proms, tennis matches, softball and volleyball games, band and choir concerts and competitions, and indoor guard competitions!

But despite all that activity, the youth have spent time together at youth group, youth activities, and Sunday school. The Jr. High youth had a great time playing Wii games one Sunday afternoon, and the Senior High is looking forward to enjoying an afternoon of miniature golf later this month. Both groups are very excited about the Voices for Sudan concert on May 21st and about hearing David Radcliffe speak during Sunday School and Church the next day.

We are also working hard preparing for the Community Yard Sale, which will take place on June 4th in the front yard of the church. If there is anyone who would like to purchase a space, but hasn’t yet, please contact Kim Lantzy. Spaces are 12ft. by 12ft. and are available for $10.00. Even if you would not like to sell anything, come out and support the youth! It’s a fun day, and there are always lots of interesting things to see!

All of the youth are excited about the end of the school year and the fast approaching summer! We’d like to congratulate our youth who are graduating from middle school: David Coffman, Marissa Yeager, and Andy Simon. We’d also like to congratulate our only high school graduate this year: Amanda Turner, who is graduating from Spring Ford High School and plans to take classes at Montgomery County Community College in the fall. We will miss her involvement in the youth group, but we wish her the best of luck in all her future endeavors!

Summertime also means work camps! The Jr. High are very excited about their trip to Greenland, Ohio at the end of June, and the Sr. High youth are looking forward to their trip to Brooklyn, New York in mid-July. We all hope that these trips will be a fun and enlightening experience, and we thank everyone in the congregation for all of your support!
