Youth Update – October 2012

It’s almost October, and there are signs all around us that fall is here; the leaves are beginning to change, the weather is getting cooler, and the sounds of marching bands fill the air! Many of our youth are spending their time this fall in their high school marching bands and are now enjoying their first few performances at football games and competitions. Some of our Jr. High youth are also starting fall sports and playing hard in the first few games of the season.
In September, the Jr. High youth had a sleepover at the church. Ten youth met at the church to watch a movie Friday evening. Then, at midnight, the group traveled out to Limerick to play Glow Bowling. After the late night, they came back to the church to sleep on sleeping bags and air mattresses. There were a lot of tired youth (and advisors) the next morning, but everyone had a great time.
The Senior High youth are now enjoying a new youth group meeting time. Due to some scheduling conflicts, we changed the meeting time to 1-3 p.m. on Sunday afternoons. After a long summer of vacations and weeks away from each other, we are enjoying our games and discussions with each other again.
Both the Jr. High and the Sr. High youth served as worship leaders on Sunday, September 16 and shared their experiences from their summer work camp trips with the rest of the congregation. We are so grateful for the church’s support for these trips, and we enjoy spending the Work Camp Sunday sharing our experiences with you.
