How Can We Be His Witnesses?

Acts 1:8 …” you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

As followers of Jesus, we are to BE His witness. Our witness is part of our being. So, we pray that you take any opportunity to show God’s love in a practical way to your friends, neighbors, and the larger community. Need some possible ideas about how to get started?

  • Deliver cookies to a local fire station, police department, ambulance/rescue
house, or nurse station in the ICU or at a local retirement community/care
    facility.
  • Hand out bottled water or Gatorade to outdoor workers on a hot day (such as
construction workers, trash collectors, postal carriers, or landscapers).
  • Write encouraging letters or send cards to shut-ins.
  • Buy some carnations or other types of stemmed flowers and visit a local care
facility, handing out flowers. Add a small card or note to each flower stem that
says “Just for you, just because God loves you.”
  • As a family group, take chalk and add some uplifting messages to the walking
pathways or pavilion areas. Some ideas:
o Draw a hopscotch board and write a note “Play chases the clouds away!”
and place the rock with an arrow to it, saying “Try me!”
    o “Hello, Beautiful!”
o “Hope you are having a great day!”
    o “Your life matters!”
    o “You are loved!”
o “This smile is for you! ”
    o “You are important!”
o “It’s good to see you!”
  • Visit a local library and offer to pay someone’s library fine.
  • Smile and say “hello” to every person you pass on the sidewalk, grocery store,
    or any other business.
  • Offer to pray for someone who looks down or sad.
