On Sunday, September 20th, Green Tree will again observe International Day of Peace by
participating in a “Whirled Peace” event. We will join other Church of the Brethren congregations by creating a pinwheel display that serves as a visual and public reminder of the importance of seeking peace in a world filled with violence.
The congregation will be invited to create their own pinwheels representing their feelings about what’s going on in the world and our collective desires for peace. After worship, we will gather to place the pinwheels near our church sign, so that the daily traffic on Egypt road can also receive this message of peace, and a reminder of the toll that gun violence takes on our communities.
Whirled Peace is an initiative sponsored by the COB Gun Violence Prevention Action Team. This team was formed to galvanize the Church of the Brethren to be faithful as an effective force for reducing gun violence in our neighborhoods and wherever it occurs.
